Classic Statements - Sarah and Alex

Sometimes you meet a bride who knows exactly what she wants. When I first met Sarah Williams (Mallette) and her sweet mom Gina, I knew this was going to be a fun wedding to plan because Sarah knew exactly what she wanted and her style was classic. Trends are great and can make events fresh and different, but classic is always in style.

Sarah was planning a November wedding and wanted white flowers and dark greens. She had just a few flowers in mind - calla lilies, hydrangeas, dendrobium orchids and roses. All of my favorites! For her bouquet, she wanted large calla lilies - again, classic! And her bridesmaids, groom and groomsmen were to have mini callas. For an even more classic look, the mothers and grandmothers were going to carry silver monogrammed tussle mussies with white roses.

In her gorgeous home church, First Presbyterian of Pascagoula, Sarah wanted traditional greens with more modern altar flowers. Guests were welcomed with square boxwood wreaths on the church’s doors and inside, arrangements of calla lilies, hydrangeas, roses and stock welcomed guests to sign the registry. The altar featured large cylinders overflowing with white cloudy hydrangeas and curly willow and the pews and windows were flanked with smilax and ruscus. Hand-carved wooden candle pillars flanked the altar and more candles were placed in the church windows to create an intimate setting.

After the ceremony, guests were welcomed to the Grand Magnolia for a night of celebrating and dancing. When entering the ballroom, the bride’s cake was front and center, decorated with playa blanca roses and with these roses repeated just behind the cake on the head table. The head table contained over 40 clear glass vases with single stem playa blanca roses layered with smilax and votives. More simple classic statements!

The round guest tables alternated tall and low arrangements of white hydrangeas, and the buffet piece was another stunning simple statement piece - of white dendrobium orchids! Outside candles and smilax centered round tables under a tent where guests could make their own smores on the cool evening.
